SUMMARY:Workshop on GNSS Ionosphere (IWGI2026)
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Workshop on GNSS Ionosphere (IWGI2026) – Remote Sensing Techniques and Applications\nThe “Workshop on GNSS Ionosphere (IWGI2026) – Remote Sensing Techniques and Applications” will take place as in-person format during 31st August – 4th September\, 2026 in Neustrelitz\, Germany. Participants and speakers will only be able to participate onsite at DLR site Neustrelitz. \nThe IWGI2026 will provide a platform for scientists and engineers to communicate and exchange their views on ionospheric observations\, new methods\, retrieval methods\, data fusion\, applications and future challenges. The workshop is open to contributions on latest results and developments in ionosphere reconstruction\, spatial and temporal gradients modelling\, monitoring techniques and prediction methodologies as well as ionospheric scintillation and propagation effects on microwave space-based geodetic techniques (e.g. GNSS\, SLR\, VLBI\, DORIS etc.) and their mitigation using multi-frequency\, multi-sensors observations. Latest results and developments relevant to the use of remote sensing techniques such as GNSS reflectometry for providing all-weather\, high-resolution measurements of ocean winds\, sea-level height\, soil moisture\, and ice/snow thickness are also welcome. \nWe are inviting contributions covering lower atmosphere monitoring\, solar flare effects on the lower ionosphere and detection using VLF\, GNSS signals and radar measurements\, ionospheric effects on GNSS reflectometry retrievals as well as GNSS radio occultation retrievals and climate data records and applications of such records for climate related studies. Space weather impact studies on Earth/Space systems and infrastructures are also welcome. \nAll Study and Working Groups within IAG (International Association of Geodesy) Sub-Commission 4.3: Atmosphere Remote Sensing under Commission 4 “Positioning and applications” (2023 – 2027) are cordially invited to present their work. Eligible applicants (Early Carrier Scientist from low/mid economic countries) may submit their request for travel grants. For more information\, please check IAG website (https://geodesy.science/iag/awards/iag-travel-award/). \nOn behalf of the Organizing Committee\, we are pleased to invite you to attend the Workshop on GNSS Ionosphere (IWGI2026) – Remote Sensing Techniques and Applications. For any questions\, or comments please feel free to contact the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) at DLR\, Neustrelitz. \nWe are looking forward to meeting you at the IWGI2026. \nKind regards\, \n\nDr. M Mainul Hoque (Mainul.Hoque@dlr.de)\nDr. Maximilian Semmling (Maximilian.Semmling@dlr.de)\nDr. Norbert Jakowski (Norbert.Jakowski@dlr.de)

SUMMARY:ITGRF Workshop 2026
DESCRIPTION:The 2026 ITGRF workshop will provide an excellent opportunity to advance the International Terrestrial Gravity Reference Frame and to discuss current activities within the IAG Joint Working Group 2.1.1. The workshop will focus on ensuring the compatibility of absolute gravity observations\, establishing and maintaining gravity reference stations\, and developing a modern\, user-oriented infrastructure for end-users. It will bring together experts in absolute gravimetry\, gravity monitoring\, and reference frame realization to exchange knowledge and coordinate future work. \nThe International Terrestrial Gravity Reference Frame (ITGRF) is developed by the International Association of Geodesy and is based on accurate observations from absolute gravimeters and continuous gravity monitoring at reference stations. Its primary objective is to replace the obsolete International Gravity Reference Standardization Network (IGSN71) defined in the early 1970s with a modern\, consistent global gravity reference. \nThe workshop will be hosted in 2026 by the British Geological Survey’s Space Geodesy Facility at Herstmonceux Castle in East Sussex\, a site with a strong scientific heritage as the former home of the Royal Greenwich Observatory. \n\nMore info here [PDF] \n\nBooking/registration information is not yet available and will follow soon.
