SUMMARY:IAG Geodesy Reception 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Geodesy Reception 2026 took place on Tuesday\, May 5 (19:00-21:45) during the EGU General Assembly 2026. It was hosted for the third time at BEV (Federal Office of Metrology and Surveying). \n👉 Read the full recap of this event \nRegistration\nRegistration was required\, as capacity was limited to 120 participants. Attendance is only possible with confirmed registration! Access to the building will be granted upon verification at the entrance. Due to high demand and limited availability\, registration was opened in two separate tranches (April 8 and 2) to accommodate participants from different time zones. \nGeodesy Cartoon Competition – Winner Announcement\nAs a special highlight\, the winners of the Geodesy Cartoon Competition were officially announced\, and the top-ranked cartoons were showcased during the event. SUMMARY:International Competition “Ecoview”
DESCRIPTION:The Laboratory of GIS and Remote Sensing of the National Centre “Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine\,” a member of the Copernicus Academy\, is organising the international competition “Ecoview” for students aged 14 to 18 years. \nBy participating in the competition\, students will learn to create a science project using publicly available remote sensing data. We believe that satellite imagery is a powerful tool for environmental science and climate education. Using accessible data\, students can explore how the climate crisis affects the environment and how it has impacted their home regions over time. \nThe competition will be held online\, and participation is free of charge. The working language of the event is English. The main requirement for participation is to use remote sensing data in the research project. \nThe competition will take place from 20 May to 4 December 2026 and will include three stages: \nStage 1 (20 May – 31 October 2026): Registration and Project Preparation\nParticipants will complete a registration form and develop a scientific project on an environmental topic of their choice. They are free to select the issue\, geographic location\, research scale\, materials\, and tools according to their interests. The project must use satellite data. \nStage 2 (1–20 November 2026): Project Evaluation\nThe jury will evaluate the submitted projects and select the finalists. \nStage 3 (4 December 2026): Final Presentations\nFinalists will present their projects online via Zoom. Following the presentations\, the jury will announce the winners. \n\n\nIf you want to participate in the Competition\, please complete the registration form. The deadline is the 31st of October. More information about the terms and conditions can be found on the JASU website and in the Participant’s Guide\, which provides useful information for participants.
