SUMMARY:International Competition “Ecoview”
DESCRIPTION:The Laboratory of GIS and Remote Sensing of the National Centre “Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine\,” a member of the Copernicus Academy\, is organising the international competition “Ecoview” for students aged 14 to 18 years. \nBy participating in the competition\, students will learn to create a science project using publicly available remote sensing data. We believe that satellite imagery is a powerful tool for environmental science and climate education. Using accessible data\, students can explore how the climate crisis affects the environment and how it has impacted their home regions over time. \nThe competition will be held online\, and participation is free of charge. The working language of the event is English. The main requirement for participation is to use remote sensing data in the research project. \nThe competition will take place from 20 May to 4 December 2026 and will include three stages: \nStage 1 (20 May – 31 October 2026): Registration and Project Preparation\nParticipants will complete a registration form and develop a scientific project on an environmental topic of their choice. They are free to select the issue\, geographic location\, research scale\, materials\, and tools according to their interests. The project must use satellite data. \nStage 2 (1–20 November 2026): Project Evaluation\nThe jury will evaluate the submitted projects and select the finalists. \nStage 3 (4 December 2026): Final Presentations\nFinalists will present their projects online via Zoom. Following the presentations\, the jury will announce the winners. \n\n\nIf you want to participate in the Competition\, please complete the registration form. The deadline is the 31st of October. More information about the terms and conditions can be found on the JASU website and in the Participant’s Guide\, which provides useful information for participants. SUMMARY:12 Spanish-Portuguese Assembly of Geodesy & Geophysics
DESCRIPTION:The Spanish-Portuguese Assembly of Geodesy and Geophysics\, which held its first meeting in Almería in 1998\, began meeting every two years\, alternating between the two countries responsible\, Spain and Portugal. Over the course of its sessions\, it has established itself as a research forum in the fields of Geodesy\, Seismology\, Meteorology\, Geomagnetism\, Hydrology\, Oceanography\, Volcanology\, Applied Geophysics\, and Cryospheric Sciences\, as well as a place for meeting and scientific exchange between Spanish and Portuguese researchers through the presentation and discussion of papers in these fields. The COVID-19 period marked the largest gap in the established periodicity\, which we now wish to resume. Thus\, two years after the last meeting\, which took place in Évora in 2024\, the 2026 meeting will be held in Spain. Next June\, from the 16th to the 19th\, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and its Higher Technical School of Topography\, Geodesy\, and Cartography will host the 12th Spanish-Portuguese Assembly of Geodesy and Geophysics.
