SUMMARY:International Competition “Ecoview”
DESCRIPTION:The Laboratory of GIS and Remote Sensing of the National Centre “Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine\,” a member of the Copernicus Academy\, is organising the international competition “Ecoview” for students aged 14 to 18 years. \nBy participating in the competition\, students will learn to create a science project using publicly available remote sensing data. We believe that satellite imagery is a powerful tool for environmental science and climate education. Using accessible data\, students can explore how the climate crisis affects the environment and how it has impacted their home regions over time. \nThe competition will be held online\, and participation is free of charge. The working language of the event is English. The main requirement for participation is to use remote sensing data in the research project. \nThe competition will take place from 20 May to 4 December 2026 and will include three stages: \nStage 1 (20 May – 31 October 2026): Registration and Project Preparation\nParticipants will complete a registration form and develop a scientific project on an environmental topic of their choice. They are free to select the issue\, geographic location\, research scale\, materials\, and tools according to their interests. The project must use satellite data. \nStage 2 (1–20 November 2026): Project Evaluation\nThe jury will evaluate the submitted projects and select the finalists. \nStage 3 (4 December 2026): Final Presentations\nFinalists will present their projects online via Zoom. Following the presentations\, the jury will announce the winners. \n\n\nIf you want to participate in the Competition\, please complete the registration form. The deadline is the 31st of October. More information about the terms and conditions can be found on the JASU website and in the Participant’s Guide\, which provides useful information for participants. SUMMARY:17th European VLBI Network Symposium
DESCRIPTION:The European VLBI Network Symposium is the main forum for discussion of the latest Very Long Baseline Interferometry scientific results and technical and technological developments within the EVN member countries. The purpose of this biennal meeting is to bring together the global VLBI community to exchange knowledge\, share new research\, discuss advancements in VLBI techniques\, and foster a collaborative community in radio astronomy. This year\, for the first time\, there will be a dedicated session on geodetic and astrometric VLBI.

SUMMARY:SAGWG - South African National Geodesy Workshop 2026
DESCRIPTION:Workshop 2 of the SAGWG takes place on 1–2 October 2026 at DLRRD Pretoria (617 Willow Rd\, Pretoria Central)\, organized by the South African Geospatial Working Group and chaired by Aletha de Witt and Aslam Parker. \nThe program opens with an introductory “setting the scene” session\, then works through the group’s eight thematic pillars — Foundations\, Advocacy/Communications/Outreach\, Infrastructure and Operations\, Spectrum Protection\, Data/Standards/Open Access\, Reference Systems and Regional Frames\, Human Capital Development\, and R&D/next-gen supply chain innovation — before closing with a wrap-up session. \nAs an added feature\, participants can join an excursion to the SANSA Space Operations facility and the SARAO HartRAO site near Krugersdorp. Registration\, the detailed timetable\, and presentation materials (including a draft program PDF and a presenter slide template) are available on the event’s Indico page: events.sagwg.org.za/event/1.
