The Research and Development Division in Hydrography and Geodesy at the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) is seeking to appoint a Research Associate (m/f/d) in Geodesy, Hydrography or Geosciences on a permanent basis.

 

– Profile: Completed scientific university education in geodesy, hydrography or geosciences as well as profound experience in geoscientific research and development and in interdisciplinary cooperation

– Start of work: as soon as possible

– Type of contract: permanent

– Remuneration: A14 (BBesG) and E14 (TVöD Bund)

– Place of employment: Rostock, Germany

The responsibilities of the advertised position include research and development tasks that cover a very broad spectrum. These include conceptual questions of hydroacoustic and imaging sensor technology, sensor integration and software implementation. They also include the development of metrological methods for the extraction of reliable and accurate three-dimensional information. In addition, the role includes application-specific realization and complete practical implementation in operational use.

 

The person we are looking for will be responsible for coordinating and managing the BSH-internal interdisciplinary working group ‘Development in Hydrographic Surveying’. The successful candidate will be responsible for the conception, acquisition and leading realization of departmental research projects, as well as third-party funded R&D projects. The area of responsibility also includes continuous and active participation in international bodies, such as the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO).
