IAG Project QuGe

Novel Sensors and Quantum Technology for Geodesy

Integrating quantum technology into geodesy

The IAG Project “Novel Sensors and Quantum Technology for Geodesy (QuGe)” leverages quantum technology and new measurement techniques to enhance satellite geodesy, gravimetric Earth observation, and reference systems. It includes three working groups focused on quantum gravimetry, laser interferometry for gravity field missions, and relativistic geodesy with clocks, aiming to improve spatial and temporal resolution in observing Earth’s dynamic processes. QuGe strives to develop innovative methods, like atom interferometry and optical clock networks, to enable groundbreaking applications such as precise gravimetric surveys, enhanced satellite navigation, and advanced space-based geodesy.
