Benefits of being part of IAG

  • Voting & Nomination Rights

By joining and actively participating in an IAG component, you have the exciting opportunity to influence its future — take part in the election process both as a nominator and a nominee!

How to join IAG?

Enrich IAG with your Initiative!

  • Host an IAG Event in Your Country

IAG is committed to global inclusion and seeks hosts for future events, especially outside Europe and the USA. If you or your institution is interested in bringing an IAG meeting to your country – Contact us…

  • Create a new IAG component

Do you believe there are research areas not currently covered by the existing IAG components (Commissions, ICCs, Services, or Projects) and their Working or Study Groups? If so, you are invited to propose the establishment of a new IAG component by submitting a request to the IAG Bureau. You can find the relevant rules in the IAG Statutes and IAG Bylaws. The decision to establish a new IAG component can only be made once every four years at the IUGG General Assembly.

Use of IAG Membership Fees and Voluntary Donations

IAG membership fees and the IAG voluntary donations are used to support:

  • Support Young Scientists

Provide travel support to young scientists to enable their participation in conferences, workshops, and other scientific events.

  • Support IAG Workshops

Assist the organization of IAG workshops in developing countries.

  • Support IAG Publication Award

Provide the annual IAG Best Publication Award for young scientists.

Everyone can make a voluntary donation to IAG:

IUGG Membership

Geodetic and geophysical studies inherently require strong international cooperation and effective coordination, which is facilitated through IUGG membership. More than 72 countries are members of IUGG, typically represented by National Committees for Geodesy and Geophysics established by national academies or other adhering bodies. Read more at How to join IUGG.

Become an IAG Member Country

Every country in the world can become a member of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG) by joining the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) and selecting IAG as (one of) its associated IUGG association. With the IUGG membership fee, IAG is directly supported, helping to strengthen the geodetic community. 👉 Become an IAG Member Country

National IAG Correspondents

Each IUGG member country affiliated with the IAG must appoint via its IUGG National Committee (IAG Adhering Body) an IAG National Correspondent (of IUGG) who will then serve as a member of the IAG Council and hold important voting rights within the IAG.
