Dear community,
I am very happy to announce the first EU-wide community workshop by the HORIZON EUROPE project “EQUIP-G”. It will take place from 3.6. to 5.6.2026 at GFZ Helmholtz Centre for Geosciences (Potsdam, Germany).
This email indents to inform you about this meeting and provide you the possibility to mark the dates in advance in your calendar. We are not yet sure if there will be a hybrid option (most likely not, but information will follow). EQUIP-G in a nutshell: we are developing and deploying a quantum gravimeter network within Europe. This task involves joint activities amongst:
- quantum gravimeter instrument testing and metrology
- running dedicated use cases across Europe to showcase and investigate this technology with respect to its potential and added value for real world geoscientific and society-relevant applications
- develop and test an airborne quantum gravimeter sensor
- data management and IT infrastructure for data hosting and sharing following FAIR principles
- initiating the creation of a new EPOS technical core service for gravimetry
- create an infrastructure in form of a shared park of quantum gravimeters, which hopefully in the future will enable all interested stakeholders to have low-cost access to this new technology
But of course the most important thing is to involve all interested people from the community – you! To shape the future of how, by whom and for what quantum gravimeters will be used and how this technology will develop, also in the European context.
We are eager to meet with the entire community, present first results, exchange ideas, get feedback and opinions and actively use this input! We would be very happy to see many of you attending this workshop and join a lively discussion!
More information will follow in the upcoming months.
