Celebrating 160 Years Chair of Higher Geodesy at TU Wien
On June 23, 1866, Josef Herr was appointed the first professor of Higher Geodesy and Spherical Astronomy at TU Wien (Vienna, Austria) by the emperor Franz Joseph I. On that occasion, 160 years later, a homecoming event was held at TU Wien with about 70 former colleagues and students gathering for a reunion. The afternoon started with presentations on historical aspects, study affairs, as well as on current research topics in Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) and satellite navigation. Thereafter, we had a reception at TU Wien and dinner at a local restaurant. It was very nice and rewarding to meet so many colleagues and friends after a long time.
