IAG News – New Ways to Stay Connected
With the launch of the new IAG website in June 2025, the way news is provided and distributed within the International Association of Geodesy (IAG) has significantly evolved. All current news from the IAG and general news of IAG’s components is now centrally bundled and published as blog posts on the official News page https://geodesy.science/news/. This page serves as the primary hub for announcements, reports, calls, events, and other updates from across the IAG community.
Stay Updated – Without Visiting the Website Daily
While the News page provides comprehensive access to all posts, there are several convenient ways to receive updates automatically:
- Mailing List(s): You can subscribe to the IAG and GGOS mailing lists (currently around 1,200 subscribers) to receive news, upcoming events and job openings monthly directly via email: https://geodesy.science/news/#mailing-list
- Social Media: Follow IAG and GGOS on various platforms to stay informed in real time: LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, BlueSky, X, and Telegram (https://geodesy.science/news/#socialmedia)
- RSS Feed: For automated integration into your preferred feed reader or institutional systems, all news items are also available via RSS: https://geodesy.science/feed/
- PDF Newsletter: Read latest news and upcoming events conveniently bundled monthly in a single PDF issue: https://geodesy.science/news/#iag-newsletter
The Monthly IAG PDF Newsletter
In addition to the online news system, the IAG continues to publish its traditional PDF Newsletter during the begin of each month. This newsletter summarizes the most important news posts from the previous month and offers a curated overview of key developments within the IAG and the geodetic community. While the IAG PDF Newsletter has been available for many years (formerly prepared by the IAG COB in Hungary), it was fully redesigned beginning with the January 2026 issue and now appears in a refreshed, modern layout. Since then, it has been published monthly by the IAG Secretariat at BEV in Austria. The PDF Newsletter is available at:
- IAG Cloud – Download Newsletter: https://cloud.geodesy.science/s/public?dir=/IAG/IAG-Newsletter
- Published in the Journal of Geodesy: https://link.springer.com/journal/190
The PDF format provides an alternative and structured way of reading and archiving IAG news. It complements the dynamic web-based news system.
