Postdoctorial Researcher in Airborne Gravimetry

DTU Space

DTU Space is looking for a post doc to engage and strengthen their long-term activities in airborne gravimetry. The position involves both state-of-the-art research development and field activities across the world. Recent and current research projects are focused on the development of strapdown gravimetry for aircraft and drones, and the demonstration of new quantum technologies in close collaboration with international partners.

The position is associated with the division of Geodesy and Earth Observation (GEO), which has a long history of research in the field of geodesy and airborne geophysical observations, and strong competences in Arctic fieldwork logistics. The gravity research group has carried out airborne gravimetry since the 1990s and has an annual work programme to maintain and develop the gravity and height networks of Denmark and Greenland on behalf of their respective governments.

Responsibilities and qualifications
As a post doc working with airborne gravimetry, you will develop practical skills associated with instrumental installation and operation, along with knowledge of the associated electronics. You will be at the forefront of technological development in collaboration with international research and industrial partners. The position requires software development within the topics of navigation, sensor fusion, Kalman filtering and gravity field modelling. It is expected that the degree of involvement in meetings and organisational tasks related to research projects will increase steadily during the employment.

The following qualifications are highly relevant, but not mandatory:

  • Experience and skills within gravity field modelling
  • Programming skills
  • Fieldwork experience
  • GNSS processing
  • Navigation and sensor fusion
  • Quantum gravimetry

It is expected that the candidate has demonstrated research experience and is able to participate in international fieldwork, meetings and dissemination activities.
