PDOP – Position Dilution of Precision
Position Dilution of Precision (PDOP) quantifies how the geometric arrangement of satellites affects the accuracy of a GNSS position in three dimensions. A lower PDOP indicates a favorable satellite configuration, leading to more precise latitude, longitude, and altitude estimates, while a higher PDOP reflects poor geometry and increased positional uncertainty. It is widely used in navigation, surveying, and geodesy to assess and improve measurement reliability.
