The Laboratory of GIS and Remote Sensing of the National Centre “Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine,” a member of the Copernicus Academy, is organising the international competition “Ecoview” for students aged 14 to 18 years.
By participating in the competition, students will learn to create a science project using publicly available remote sensing data. We believe that satellite imagery is a powerful tool for environmental science and climate education. Using accessible data, students can explore how the climate crisis affects the environment and how it has impacted their home regions over time.
The competition will be held online, and participation is free of charge. The working language of the event is English. The main requirement for participation is to use remote sensing data in the research project.
The competition will take place from 20 May to 4 December 2026 and will include three stages:
Stage 1 (20 May – 31 October 2026): Registration and Project Preparation
Participants will complete a registration form and develop a scientific project on an environmental topic of their choice. They are free to select the issue, geographic location, research scale, materials, and tools according to their interests. The project must use satellite data.
Stage 2 (1–20 November 2026): Project Evaluation
The jury will evaluate the submitted projects and select the finalists.
Stage 3 (4 December 2026): Final Presentations
Finalists will present their projects online via Zoom. Following the presentations, the jury will announce the winners.
