GEOSS – Global Earth Observation System of Systems

GEOSS (Global Earth Observation System of Systems) is an international initiative that connects Earth observation systems and data infrastructures worldwide to improve access to coordinated and interoperable environmental information. It is led by the intergovernmental Group on Earth Observations (GEO). In geodesy, GEOSS provides an important framework for integrating geodetic observations—such as positioning, gravity field measurements, sea level monitoring, and Earth rotation parameters—into broader Earth system data services supporting climate research, disaster risk reduction, and sustainable development.
