GFZ – German Research Centre for Geosciences
The GFZ is Germany’s national research center for geosciences, based in Potsdam. It conducts research on Earth system processes, including solid Earth, oceans, atmosphere, and the cryosphere, with a focus on geodesy, seismology, geomagnetism, and Earth observation. The institute develops and operates satellite missions, ground networks, and geodetic techniques to study gravity, Earth deformation, and mass transport. It also provides data, models, and expertise to support global geodetic research and climate monitoring.
