GENESIS

The ESA’s GENESIS mission is a planned geodetic satellite mission designed to significantly improve the accuracy of the International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF), the foundation for global navigation and Earth science applications.

The mission aims to achieve a positioning accuracy of 1 millimeter and a long-term stability of 0.1 millimeters per year, enabling the detection of minute changes in Earth’s systems.
This improvement will enhance the precision of the Galileo satellite navigation system and benefit numerous applications, including air traffic management, autonomous vehicles, precision agriculture, infrastructure maintenance, climate change monitoring, and sea level rise tracking.
