IRNSS NavIC – Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System

The Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS), also known with the operational name NavIC (Navigation with Indian Constellation), is India’s independent regional satellite navigation system providing accurate real-time positioning and timing over India and surrounding regions up to about 1,500 km beyond its borders. It consists of several geostationary and inclined geosynchronous satellites working together with a network of ground stations. IRNSS offers both an open Standard Positioning Service and a restricted encrypted service, achieving position accuracy better than 20 meters within its primary service area.
