Quantum Gravimeter
A quantum gravimeter is an advanced instrument that measures the Earth’s gravity with extremely high precision using quantum sensors, often based on atom interferometry. It detects tiny variations in gravity by observing the behavior of ultra-cold atoms in free fall, providing more sensitive and stable measurements than classical gravimeters. In geodesy, quantum gravimeters are used for monitoring mass redistribution, groundwater changes, geoid determination, and studies of Earth’s interior, contributing to both regional and global gravity field observations.
