Ellipsoidal Height
The ellipsoidal height is the vertical distance from a point on the Earth’s surface to a reference ellipsoid along the ellipsoid’s normal. It is a purely geometric quantity obtained from satellite positioning systems like GNSS. Since it ignores the gravity field, it must be corrected using a geoid or quasigeoid model to obtain physical heights.
