Statens Kartverk – Norwegian Mapping Authority

Statens kartverk (Norwegian Mapping Authority) is Norway’s national agency responsible for mapping, geodetic infrastructure, marine charting, property registration, and geospatial data management. It maintains Norway’s national coordinate reference frame, height system, and gravity network, and operates geodetic observatories and GNSS infrastructure.

In geodesy, Statens kartverk plays a key role in monitoring crustal deformation, postglacial rebound (glacial isostatic adjustment), sea level change, and Arctic geodynamics. Through precise geodetic observations and international collaboration, it contributes to regional and global reference frame realization and Earth system monitoring.
