GGOS Days 2025 | Report
The GGOS Days 2025 were held on 3–5 September 2025 within the IAG2025 Scientific Assembly of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG) in Rimini, Italy, bringing together hundreds of scientists from 68 countries to discuss new developments and challenges in observing and understanding the Earth system.

GGOS Days 2025 – Presentation of EGVs
This year’s GGOS Days featured five dedicated symposia and a highlight session, showcasing the breadth of GGOS activities – from advancing the global geodetic infrastructure and defining Essential Geodetic Variables (EGVs) to fostering innovation in AI, space weather, and geohazard monitoring. The event also emphasized communication, education, and policy engagement, highlighting the societal relevance of geodesy and its contribution to sustainable development.
The GGOS Governing Board and GGOS Science Panel met in hybrid format to review progress on the GGOS Implementation Plan, discuss new outreach materials, and coordinate upcoming capacity-building initiatives.
Integrating GGOS Days into the IAG Scientific Assembly strengthened collaboration across IAG components and increased visibility of GGOS within the broader geodetic community. Looking ahead, GGOS Days 2026 will return to its traditional standalone format in Gävle, Sweden (5–7 October 2026), held jointly with the IAG Commission 3 Symposium (TIGER) and a GGOS Topical Meeting on Geohazards.
