IAG Bureau

The IAG Bureau is the central administrative body of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG), entrusted with overseeing and managing the association’s operations in accordance with its Statutes and By-laws. The Bureau ensures the effective functioning of the IAG, implements strategic decisions, and supports the global geodetic community.

Composition of the IAG Bureau

The Bureau consists of three key leadership positions, elected by the IAG Council:

  • IAG President

    The chief representative of the IAG, responsible for guiding the association’s strategic direction and ensuring its mission is upheld. After completing their term, the President serves as the Immediate Past President during the next term.

  • IAG Vice President

    Supports the President, ensuring continuity in leadership, and contributes to decision-making and governance.

  • IAG Secretary General

    Oversees the day-to-day administration of the association, coordinates activities, and serves as the primary liaison between the IAG and its members. Upon completing their term, the Secretary General serves as the Immediate Past Secretary General in the subsequent term.

Duties and Responsibilities

The IAG Bureau administers the association’s affairs in alignment with its Statutes, By-laws, and the decisions of the IAG Council and the IAG Executive Committee. Through its leadership, the Bureau ensures the advancement of geodesic science, fosters international cooperation, and strengthens the global geodetic community.
